O.k. so I completed my first podcast. The process, although exciting, was not a simple act. My headset was broken..that took two days to figure out this problem. The noise level in the office is not loud, but not quit either. I kept having to retape the voice over. The entire process from Keynote slides to Garage Band to a movie seemed lenghty, but maybe because it was my first attempt?!

Question as is....
My question is "Will the use of pod casts to educators (leadership) have benefits? How do I market the idea? My target audience would initially be principals and assistant principals, HRD (all units) and Core Curriculum. I selected this "problem" because I have heard AP's and Principals looking to "send a representative" to meetings. My experience is that the principal or AP does not want to be out of the school for any length of time. I surveyed some Ap's and Principals and asked if they would like to idea of using pod casts to obtain staff development information. The consensus was positive that podcast would save time, money and effort.
I need to compare the costs of having a face to face meeting to pod casting a meeting. This research is directly correlated to my PGP plan; my goal is to be able to assist my school-based clients in identifying and applying appropriate strategies to enhance their own professional developement.

Focus more...
Now that I have had a bit of time to read other posts and comments...I feel better equipped to focus more on the marketing issue. I love the idea of some of us connecting some of our topics for our Collaborative Research. It seems like the concept of Marketing the use of podcast for educators for PD is essential. The hard part will be to gather the data to support this idea. How valid are those on-line surveys? Only the people we "tell" or "ask" to respond will be accounted for....is that valid? What will the barriers for Marketing....I think the $$ to purchase I-pods will be a big one.

Marketing Podcasts
I wonder how to market the use of podcasts to educators for professional development. Is there research out that already exists "out there"?
Where am I going to begin with this research?
Should I do an needs assessment survey of educators?
